If anyone was doubting Jennifer Lopez’s cultural impact, you’re about to be proven wrong! It turns out the “Feel The Light” singer’s infamous Versace dress from the 2000 Grammys (can you believe it’s been 15 years?) is the reason for the birth of Google Images. Yes, that Google!

The company’s executive chairman Eric Schmidt recently spoke with Project Syndicate about the barely-there dress, stating it was the main source for the tool that now allows us to search the web through photos. It’s safe to say that Lopez is one of the reasons why people like Kim Kardashian could “Break The Internet” in the first place!

“[P]eople wanted more than just text. This first became apparent after the 2000 GRAMMY Awards, where Jennifer Lopez wore a green dress that, well, caught the world’s attention,” Schmidt states. “At the time, it was the most popular search query we had ever seen. But we had no surefire way of getting users exactly what they wanted: JLo wearing that dress. Google Image Search was born.”
