Justin Timberlake Surprise Releases A Breezy New Single, “SoulMate”

Justin Timberlake moved away from his pop and R&B roots on Man Of The Woods. His first album in more than 5 years was heralded as his most personal to date and saw the Tennessee native return to his roots over twangy strings. Today (July 3), he is moving back into his comfort zone on “SoulMate.” The surprise release dropped as the 37-year-old prepares to kick off the European leg of his Man Of The Woods Tour with a performance in Paris, France later tonight. And the sexy smash is a serious Song of the Summer contender.

“Summer starts now,” he commands over a breezy production. The track finds him back on the dance floor as he woos a potential fling. “I love your heart beat giving me rhythm, and I can feel your frequency,” he croons before moving into the chorus. “I wanna be your soulmate for the night. Let me put your soul on you, it’s only right.” The summery beats should be right at home on the charts and could easily make for one of his most successful releases of the year.

Despite being one of the more polarizing albums of 2018, Man Of The Woods still spawned a handful of hits. Both the growling lead single “Filthy” and the Chris Stapleton-assisted “Say Something” broke into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. With the right promotional push, “SoulMate” could easily perform even better. Hopefully he will add it to his setlist and has a handful of promotional performances in the works. The track is currently only available on Apple Music. Users can stream it below, and we will keep an eye peeled for the official audio to drop on YouTube or Spotify!
