Lady Gaga is radiant in the new edition of Vogue. Today (September 10), the pop icon hopped online to unveil her latest photoshoot and the accompanying feature. Shot by Inez and Vinoodh, she stuns in a black dress on the cover. In comparison to the recent photos she has been sharing on Instagram, this is a much more traditionally glam look. Keeping her face relatively bare, she poses in luxurious gowns and other chic outfits. It is all very in line with the image she has been presenting while promoting the imminent release of A Star Is Born, and it is surely a good look for Mother Monster.

In the accompanying interview, the 32-year-old reflected on the film and how she came to be part of it. She also opened up about how it feels to embody the role that was previously played by the likes of Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. “It’s so humbling,” she explained. “Judy Garland is by far my favorite actress of all time. I used to watch her in A Star Is Born, and it’s devastating. She’s so real, so right there. Her eyes would get glassy, and you could just see the passion and the emotion and hear the grit in her voice.” She added that Streisand had come to the set, which she described as a “magical” moment.

Gaga also previewed two tracks from the forthcoming soundtrack, “Look What I Found” and “Before I Cry.” The former was described as a “jaunty, mid-tempo banger” that is likely to induce signing and dancing, while the latter is a “a huge, soaring, sad ballad.” Although she didn’t share any insight about music for the follow-up to 2016’s Joanne, the diva did talk about her forthcoming Vegas shows. “I’ve always hated the stigma around Las Vegas — that it’s where you go when you’re on the last leg of your career,” she said. “Being a Las Vegas girl is an absolute dream for me. It’s really what I’ve always wanted to do.”

The show is set to combine old and new in thrilling ways. “We’re plowing away, making something brand-new, but still with the iconography that we’ve already created—and making sure fans leave with the feeling that they went home for a bit with their community,” she explained. That is a daunting feat considering the sheer amount of content Gaga has released over the last 10 years. She shared some insight about how the time has gone by, describing the decade as “a nonstop whirlwind.”

“You . . . make friends, you lose friends, you build tighter bonds with people you’ve known for your whole life. But there’s a lot of emotional pain, and you can’t really understand what it all means until ten years has gone by.” The hitmaker also shared some insight about fashion, the MeToo movement, her battle with chronic pain and much more.
