M.I.A.: Interscope Won’t Release Diplo Version Of “Bird Song”
This is odd. Over the past few weeks, M.I.A. has been teasing a Diplo version of “Bird Song,” off her upcoming fifth album AIM. That collaboration was supposed to arrive on August 12. But the next day, M.I.A. pleaded for Diplo and her label Interscope to sort the release out. “Interscope wont clear the diplo bird song so it can’t be released !” she says.
This isn’t the first time that M.I.A. has had trouble working with Interscope since signing in 2005. Three years ago Interscope made her scrap her already-overdue fourth album Matangi because it was “too positive.” Months later she threatened to leak Matangi if Interscope waited any longer to drop it. The album finally arrived in November 2013.
See M.I.A.’s pleas to Interscope and Diplo below.
@Interscope can you clear bird song @diplo version so it can be released this Friday !
