Stars March For Women
Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui take a stance in D.C.

MadonnaAlicia Keys and Janelle Monae were among the famous faces who gave powerful speeches at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., one day after President Donald Trump‘s inauguration. They rallied the half-million person crowd by making sure that everyone felt seen.

Before singing her 2012 single “Girl on Fire,” Alicia beamed as she shouted out the mothers, caregivers, artists, activists, entrepreneurs, doctors and “leaders of industry and technology” in the crowd. While performing “Hell You Talmbout” with her Wondaland Records signees St. Beauty and Jidenna, Janelle was joined onstage by the mothers of police brutality victims Eric GarnerMohamed Bah and Dontre Hamilton, as well as Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis.

Madonna gave the final speech before she performed “Express Yourself’ and “Human Nature.” She welcomed what she called the “revolution of love,” in light of “this new age of tyranny — where not just women are in danger, but all marginalized people.” But she was also as sharp-tongued as ever, raising even the organizers’ eyebrows when she called out those who dared diminish their efforts: “And to our detractors that insist this march will never add up to anything, fuck you. Fuck you.”
