The Queen of Pop is preparing for a massive comeback. Madonna is currently putting in work on a follow-up album to her 2015 effort Rebel Heart, and she is reuniting with some famous friends in the studio. Toady (April 17), she hopped on Instagram to reveal she was creating with Mirwais for the first time since her 2009 greatest hits album, Celebration. Posting a video of her singing along to a buoyant production, she made sure to shout out her collaborator and clarify they were working on something “#magic.”

“No this is not my new music,” she teased in a caption for the post before adding some additional clarification. “But I am having fun in the studio in between takes.” Madonna has worked with the French producer and writer extensively over the course of her career. In particular, he contributed to 2000’s Music, 2003’s American Life and 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor. He is credited as the 59-year-old’s co-producer and writer on the title track to her 2000 LP, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum in the US.

It is definitely refreshing to see the pop icon reuniting with some of her frequent collaborators from the past. Earlier this year, she expressed her desire to do away with writing camps in favor of working with a set group of writers and producers from start to finish. “Remember when I made records with other artists from beginning to end and I was allowed to be a visionary and not have to go to song writing camps where no one can sit still for more than 15 minutes,” she wrote in a comment on Instagram.

We don’t know much about Madonna’s 14th studio album just yet; however, she has been posting updates on the project fairly consistently since January. One thing we do know is that the hitmaker is balancing her time in the studio with some directorial work. Last month we learned she signed on to direct a film called Taking Flight. The project tells the story of ballerina Michaela De Prince, who overcame extreme adversity in war-torn Sierra Leone. With any luck, she is able to balance the two projects and roll out a taste of new music before the end of the year. Check out the post below!
