We’re only four months into 2012, and we’ve already got a handful of nominees for Worst Cover Art of the Year. Fiona Apple‘s The Idler Wheel cover is a chaotic headache, and both the standard and deluxe edition covers of Nicki Minaj‘s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded are a paint-splattered mess. And now there’s Maroon 5‘s album art for Overexposed, which we’re assuming is what an episode of The Simpsons looks like if you’re on acid.

Overexposed is definitely one of our most diverse and poppiest albums yet,” frontman Adam Levine said of the band’s fourth studio album. “We had a great time recording it. I can’t wait for our fans to hear the record, as well as hitting the road to play it live for everyone later this year.”

Overexposed, which boasts productions by Ryan Tedder, Benny Blanco and Max Martin, is out June 26.

What do you think of the fuscia-tinted cover? Were you hoping for something quirky-yet-sensual, like the cover for their previous album, Hands All Over? Or did you just want to see Adam Levine sans shirt once again?
