UPDATE: Ariana Grande uploaded a teaser of “imagine” on her Instagram story. Give it a listen below!

Ariana Grande has been exceptionally generous with new music this year, and she isn’t slowing down anytime in the near future. The 25-year-old dropped her fourth album, Sweetener, back in August. Impressively, her next – tentatively titled Thank U, Next – is nearing completion for release in 2019. And the era is already shaping up to be one of her most successful to date. The title track and lead single flew to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, netting the “Into You” diva her first chart-topper. The bop and its mega-viral, rom-com-referencing video shredded streaming records and received near critical acclaim. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the single near the top of the charts for weeks to come. However, the pop princess is already turning her attention to a new song.

Yesterday (December 11), Ari hopped online to announce the impending release of a song called “imagine.” Posting a countdown on her Instagram story, Billboard’s Woman Of The Year revealed her latest smash was coming Thursday at midnight ET. A couple hours later she shared some additional details about what to expect on her forthcoming album and single. “A lot of this album mourns failed yet important, beautiful relationships in my life (as well as celebrates growth / exploring new independence),” she explained on Instagram. “But for those of you asking about imagine: i would say if ‘thank u, next’ = acceptance… ‘imagine’ = denial. hope that makes sense.” I’m still not entirely sure what to expect, but it sounds like an emo banger may be on the way.

While we wait for “imagine” to arrive, revisit “thank u, next” below!
