No one is better at titling their work than Lana Del Rey. As if last year’s “Mariners Apartment Complex” and “Venice Bitch” weren’t iconic enough, the 33-year-old plans to title her forthcoming album Norman Fucking Rockwell. A literal legend. And it turns out she just one-upped herself. Yesterday (January 1), she shared the title of her new single – “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have- but i have it.” The hitmaker shared the good news on Instagram. “Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you enjoy the new song I’m putting out on the ninth,” she wrote. “it’s called ‘hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have- but i have it’.”

Lana’s announcement came alongside a snippet. “And I got to thinking that I thought maybe I’d get less stressed, if I was tested less like all of these debutantes,” she quietly coos over a sparse production. “Smiling for miles in pink dresses and high heels on white yachts. But I’m not.” It sounds like another moody classic for the “Summertime Sadness” diva. Next Wednesday can’t come soon enough. The good news doesn’t stop there. She also provided an update on a book of poetry she’s been working on and has plans to unveil in the future. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 last year, she teased Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass as a potential title.

However, her announcement also included some bad news. “In the meantime though I’d like to apologize in advance for upcoming cancellations of shows you’ll be hearing about– I wish I could fulfill those obligations but I won’t be able to.” We’ll have to wait and see what those dates are. But at least fans will have new music to keep them busy. Listen to the teaser of “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have- but i have it” below!
