Nick Jonas joined forces with DJ Mustard on their collaborative single “Anywhere,” and it sounds like a hit. After announcing the release earlier this week, the pair rolled it out today (May 11). Blending elements of pop, hip-hop and electronica, it is a pensive mid-tempo tailored both for the clubs and more casual listening. On it, the 25-year-old reflects on his relationship with a lover. “What’s better than the time being? Dark skies never scare me,” he vows on the opening lines. Although they are traveling through a difficult phase, there is still hope for the future. “You could be anywhere right now. It ain’t hard to see. I’ll be your light, if you say the words for me,” Nick croons on the sweet chorus.

“Anywhere” follows last year’s Anne-Marie and Mike Posner-assisted “Remember I Told You” and his guitar-laced EDM earworm “Find You.” Although the latter in particular received strong reviews upon its release, it just missed out on the Billboard Hot 100. However, the anthem amassed a respectable 66 million streams on Spotify and made an appearance on the Top 40 chart. Hopefully, Nick turns things around with his latest. Considering DJ Mustard’s track record working on bops for the likes of Rihanna and Britney Spears (justice for “Mood Ring”), he is clearly capable of delivering a pop crossover hit. With the right push, this may be the latest. Give the track a listen below.
