Thursday, Billboard held their 5th Annual Women In Music Awards at New York’s Pierre Hotel. Among those honored were “10 Seconds” singer Jazmine Sullivan (acknowledged with the Rising Star Award) and Fergie (awarded Woman Of The Year). Glee‘s Lea Michele earned Billboard’s first ever Triple Threat Award—though we’re still unsure what earned her the “triple”. See, Taylor Swift isn’t the taking home every award of 2010. R & B singer Monica has been working on her follow-up to her 2006 album The Makings Of Me for some time, long enough to even spawn a reality show about its process. The record, Still Standing, is as of this moment set to come out in October, and the first single “Lemme Know” is a Jazmine Sullivan-penned track that’s produced by Missy Elliott. The song’s got a fair amount of swing to its gauntlet-throwing, although I can’t help that it would actually be better (sigh) without Elliott’s vocal presence, since her whooping in the background and semi-uninspired verse about finding a man just drag the song down.
