newmissy.jpgEveryone in the TRL studio is screaming! Why? Because it’s what they do every day? Because they’re waiting for the new video from Lenny Kravitz and the chance to win his guitar? Danity Kane live in the studio? No! It’s the premiere of Missy Elliott’s new 3-D video! And since we all need a break from the endless post-Super Bowl rigamarole, we’ll be reporting live from my new couch. Will it live up to the hype? Will it live up to Captain E-O? Will it mean anything without the glasses? Let’s find out!

Idolator Live-Blogs The 2007 mtvU Woodies: Bring On The (Tape-Delayed) “College Music”

woodies-vote_363X174.jpgEvery year, mtvU holds its sorta-inappropriately-named awards show to celebrate the artists whose record labels have made a concerted effort to market to the college demographic. The channel–perhaps the last thing left under the MTV logo which actually deigns to play blocks of music videos in their entirety–is available only on campus cable, and it is neither as cutting edge, nor as anti-corporate, as it presents itself. But it doesn’t have any scripted reality programs, which in this day in age makes it a bastion of integrity. So join me as mtvU attempts to put on an awards show where performers supposedly sing with their God-given voices and do mildly irreverent things that are still too edgy for regular basic cable programming.

77794480.jpgWelcome to Idolator’s liveblog of the 41st Annual CMA Awards, coming to you live from Nashville and my couch in Astoria. Expected tonight: Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley with a marching band, and this band called … Eagles Fly? Where Eagles Dare? Oh, right. The Eagles. I don’t know much about them, but apparently they have a new album out?

Are you all ready for the pageantry of the American Idol finale, and its anything-can-happen aura? The live performances! The special guests! The possibly very crummy coronation song, sung by one winner and one person to whom it’ll be utterly meaningless!

We’re not sure if we are, either, but that doesn’t mean anything in the as-it-happens world of live-blogging. Join us for updates after the jump.

Idolator Live-Blogs The Grammys: Sting, Take The Wheel

73293440.jpgWelcome to Idolator’s first live blog of the Grammy Awards. This year’s ceremony will have performances by The Police, Rascal Flatts, and a fan selected by the Yahoo-reading masses, as well as a lot of misplaced adulation for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, whose Stadium Arcadium won three honors in the awards given out before the broadcast. Yes, it’s going to be that kind of night.

After the jump, our coverage of both the ceremony and MTV’s preshow, which is doubling as a flimsy excuse to show Justin Timberlake’s new video.

Idolator Live-Blogs The American Music Awards

Welcome to Idolator’s first-ever live-blog, which is taking place to honor the American Music Awards, the annual parade through pop’s middle of the road. The AMAs, for those of you who might not know, are a Dick Clark-produced celebration of the music industry’s most fan-beloved offerings. To break it down for you, numbers-wise: The AMAs are made up of 20 awards, and there are three nominees for each, which equals lots of chances for Fergie, Flea, and the Nickelback guy to give their thanks to “the fans”–approximately 20,000 of them, as that’s how many Americans are given a chance to vote.

After the jump, our running commentary on this three-hour celebration of why downloading may not be such a bad thing. Newest material will be up top, so we can keep this “bloggy.”
