Even though it’s not the first time bigoted statements/iconography have earned him terrible “Big Mouth Strikes Again” headlines from the English tabloids, an older, more retiring Morrissey has had enough of being scrutinized for his indefensible positions on evil foreigners and whatnot. Living in America must have made him more litigious as well, because now he’s planning on suing the NME for defamation because they called him a racist after he made remarks about how immigration is destroying the moral fiber of her majesty’s Great Britain.
Glam piano duo KRISTEENYOUNG has lost its opening slot on Morrissey’s run of shows in New York because of a statement Kristeen uttered onstage Tuesday night that, to quote her, “has been perceived as being profane (when, actually, one of the two words in question is a scientific term found in junior high, health class text books, and the other word, I feel most would agree, is lightweight slang) or defamatory.” The joke, according to someone from the always-reliable Brooklyn Vegan comments section:
