screamOh boy, there’s video of Perez Hilton throwing the f-word that might sully his gay-rights-activist bona fides in the direction of will.i.am and getting clocked as a result. In related news, Peas manager Polo Molina has claimed responsibility for the attack and turned himself in to Toronto police, who have charged him with assault. In other related news, the world needs to stop so I can get off before I make a “Black Eyed P” joke. Ah, goddammit. [TMZ] More »

photo We’ll have a full recap of tonight’s results show shortly, but for now, I’d like to say goodbye to Allison Iraheta, whose preternaturally aged voice, exquisite phrasing, and actual ability to be subtle will be greatly missed–especially since it means that we have to listen to Danny Freaking Gokey yarl on for another week at least. carrie-prejeanCarrie Prejean, the runner-up at Donald Trump’s Miss USA beauty pageant the other night, was added to the presenter roster for tonight’s Dove Awards, which celebrate the best and the brightest of the Christian music industry. What would qualify her to hand out an award tonight? Well, she did go to a Christian college. And she volunteers with the Special Olympics! Oh yeah, she also stammered through an anti-gay marriage rant during the Q & A portion of Sunday night’s competition, and since she wasn’t awarded the crown on the spot after her answer the right wants to hold her up as an example of anti-Christian bigotry. Even though she seriously used the phrase “opposite marriage” to talk about her preferred sort of nuptial pairings. More »

The record industry’s attempts to throw spaghetti at the wall and see if it stuck, no matter how rancid the pasta or listeria-laced the meat sauce, resulted in guttersniping blogger Perez Hilton getting courted for an A & R by major labels who were confused about that maxim regarding all press being the good kind. But then his dreams of record-industry riches were torpedoed by the company formerly known as Sony BMG, who sued his brightly clad ass for streaming Britney Spears tracks on his site without permission. Because he had to get all “this means war” about it!

No. 71: Kanye, Lily, Pete, And Courtney Form Their Own Blogger Nation

The rise of the artist blog as official mouthpiece in 2008 may have been in part because record labels can’t afford to hire decent PR staff anymore, but hey, you take the good with the bad. And there was a lot of good to come out of artists hitting up Tumblr, MySpace, et al; these blogs were really effective at humanizing the vacuum presented by endless paparazzi shots and press releases, whether through “clarity posts,” in which artists put gossips on blast, or posts explaining what life is like when bands graduate to bigger tours, or just posts about how they liked shoes. After the jump, nine examples of why more artists should make a tour stop in Blogtown. Not only is the trip entertaining, its fruits give people like me great material!

Like most people trying to fill in the gaps left in their lives by the 2008 elections being done, I was interested in keeping up with yesterday’s MTV Europe Music Awards. However, the no-talent tag team of Katy Perry and Perez Hilton kept me from paying attention to the proceedings online. Instead, I just went through photos of the event looking for an alternate storyline to distract me from the more nauseating aspects of the show. Idolator readers, meet Best Adriatic Act award winner Elvir Lakovic, better known as Laka.
