Speculation over whether or not Jimmy Page, John… More »
According to Dee Snider, yes! Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Jason Bonham are itching to rake in oodles of cash play the music of Led Zeppelin all around the world, even though lead singer Robert Plant has decided that he’s all about things like “bluegrass” and “taking two years off” these days. So they’re going to do something drastic–something that will definitely divide fans of the band in two even more than Coverdale/Page did. They’re going to get the guy from Alter Bridge–you know, the band that Creed eventually became once Scott Stapp sweated his way out of that particular spotlight–to take Plant’s place! Let’s hand it over to the Twisted Sister frontman, who was shooting off his mouth on the Canadian music-video station MuchMoreMusic:
Robert Plant has taken to his personal Web site to denounce rumors that he’s getting back together with the other guys in his old band, Led Zeppelin, for any reason other than a nice meal or a night of drinking: “Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin,” the statement, er, states. Not only that, once Plant’s done with this Alison Krauss tour, he’s taking the next two years off from doing anything music-related! Which I guess means that the “no, really, this time Led Zep is definitely getting back together for real” speculation will begin anew come October 2010. Plant’s full statement after the jump.
Hey, did you hear that Led Zeppelin reunited this weekend? Well, it was just John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page, who took the stage with the Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium for “Rock and Roll” and (as seen above) “Ramble On,” but that’s not stopping the NME from running with the headline “Led Zeppelin reunite at Foo Fighters show.” To celebrate this momentous occasion, let’s play a game of “Are You Really At A Led Zeppelin Reunion Show”!
Apparently this past weekend was “National Run Your Listicle-ish Summer Concert Preview” for many of this nation’s finer newspapers, as my RSS feed was stuffed with “top five” and “top 10” lists of tours and festivals from newspapers around the country. While they’re distinct in their regional biases (the Seattle Times rundown is festival-heavy; the USA Today one sticks with nation-storming stalwarts) the writers share one thing in common: they really really like Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Or at least want to sort of feel like they’re at a Led Zeppelin show. Highlights of five summer show previews after the jump.
After noting that the just-announced CMT Music Award nominees include rockers (or “rockers”) Robert Plant, Bon Jovi, Huey Lewis, and the Eagles, the CMT blog says this is nothing to get worked up about. Really, Huey Lewis is just nominated for songwriting because Garth Brooks covered him (!). And Plant, of course, is there because of his duet with Alison Krauss. As for the other two? Well…

This news may ruin Ian Astbury’s day, but Robert Plant has told Rolling Stone that he’ll be spending the first chunk of next year on the road… with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss, as the two team up to promote their album Raising Sand. Said tour may be a good way for Plant and Co., to save face, since according to those rumormongers over at The Sun, the version of Led Zeppelin that’s currently in rehearsals is not letting its songs remain the same, thanks to Plant apparently experiencing the “voice change” part of puberty sometime in his mid-40s.
