VH1 has assembled an elite squad of pop divas to entertain our deserving soldiers in the upcoming concert special ‘VH1 Divas Salute The Troops’. The show — featuring Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Paramore, Keri Hilson, Sugarland and Grace Potter & The Nocturnals — airs Dec. 5, but until then you can enjoy these stylized WWII-pinup-inspired images of the divas. (Where’s the always battle-ready Rihanna?) Props to VH1 for honoring our fighting forces. Ten-hut! More »

Lilith Fair 2010 Lineup Includes More Than Pretty Faces

mary-j-blige-u23It’s been eleven years since the last Lilith Fair toured the country, and it’s interesting to note who’s still making relevant music over a decade later: past performers Sheryl Crow, Tegan & Sara (they played one date of the last incarnation), Erykah Badu, The Indigo Girls and Lilith Fair founder Sarah McLachlan are all coming back for the return of the ladies-only music fest. (Paula Cole and Meredith Brooks, however, are still MIA.)

The newcomers include top names from across the spectrum: soul songstresses Mary J. Blige and Jill Scott (and pop-soul android Janelle Monae), country firecrackers Sugarland and Miranda Lambert and pop dolls such as Sarah Bareilles and the ever-so-quotable Ke$ha. (Who wants to be the one to tell her Jack Daniels isn’t a sponsor?) Check out the first group of artists on the lineup after the jump. More »

Live-Blogging The 2009 Grammys: Where The Winners Don’t Count As Much As The Ability To Bring In Ratings

Welcome to Idolator’s liveblog of the 2009 Grammy Awards, a year in which there will be more spectacle and less award-doling than ever. Well, at least it seems that way: The 3 1/2-hour telecast will have no more than 10 brass gramophones handed out during its running time, presumably because the music industry decided that what it really needed to give it a shot in the arm was a slightly more pretentious version of the Video Music Awards. (And yes, that is Paul McCartney being That Guy—or rather, the Bret Michaels-pioneered variation on That Guy who wears a shirt advertising his own projects—above.) Full minute-by-minute coverage after the jump!
