
Before squeezing her way to the stage at 512 rooftop bar overlooking Austin, TX’s riotous 6th Street Thursday night (Mar. 15), Elizabeth Harper, a/k/a Class Actress managed to make glamorous the dark back alley, where she posed for pre-performance portraits for Idolator. The striking brunette would later slink out of the classic khaki trenchcoat she wore — appropriate for the misting weather — to reveal an oversize black blazer, white chemise, leggings and chunky jewelry. There was more to come off as she cooed through her first SXSW appearance this year, including the pulsating “Weekend” and “Keep You”, under pink and purple lights and accompanied by live drums and synth. “This is fun,” she told the crowd as she bopped and hair-flipped vintage Madonna-style, and we all agreed. Following killer sets from Dev and Wallpaper on Thursday (Mar. 15), newly minted chart-toppers fun. arrived at the mtvU Woodies just as the sun started to go down over the hazy Austin skyline. As the air began to cool, the stage heated up as the New York indie poppers sang out “We Are Young” to the college-aged crowd that could really relate. Though nominated, the trio didn’t take home the fan-voted Breaking Woodie Award later that night; that honor went to raucous Ohio rapper Machine Gun Kelly. A mass of pop’s most faithful gathered late last night at the PureVolume House in Austin to Pray For Pop along with us at our annual South By Southwest showcase. Dynamic DJ dueo The Jane Doze started off by filling the dancefloor with their clever mixes and mashups, and then British sensation Cher Lloyd took the stage to rock her first-ever live US performance — and an incredibly cheeky one at that. Our recent Popping Up artist Penguin Prison kept the party in full swing, and Cali natives Wallpaper. turned blew the roof off with their energetic set.
