We’ve been a bit moody this week, detailing the major fails of pop music in 2010 — which includes these 10 terrible album covers. We don’t want to be an office full of Scrooges so close to Christmas, though, so we decided to focus on the positive and pick what we thought were the 10 Best Album Covers from the past year. Some were funny, others were thought-provoking, and many were just straight-up gorgeous — flip through to see some of the most striking paintings and photos to hit CD sleeves the past 12 months, ending with our (candy-scented!) favorite. Last night, a star-studded cast took the stage at L.A.’s Wiltern Theater to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a live tribute show. Recast in the musical’s infamous roles were Glee‘s Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison (playing Brad and Janet), Danny Devito, Jack Nicholson, the poisonous Nicole Scherzinger, Julian McMahon as Dr. Frank N. Furter, Evan Rachel Wood as Magenta, and the face of Weezer’s Hurley album, Jorge Garcia, as Eddie! Even late night host George Lopez donned a pair of fishnets for the production, which benefited The Painted Turtle organization.
