Fifth Harmony Unveil “Bo$$” Video: Watch

Fifth Harmony‘s “Bo$$” takes plenty of cues from hip hop. The girl group brags of their purses being heavy as if they closely kept track of Kanye West‘s 2010 weekly G.O.O.D. Friday series. Together, all five members boast of Oprah dollars as Drake currently has with One Direction numbers (as in ticket sales). All they see is signs, all they see is dollar signs.

But in their “Bo$$” video, Fifth Harmony take cues from choreographer and video director Fatima Robinson. She makes her presence clear in one scene in particular, when the girls sit in chairs, cross their legs in succession and pose on them as if in Flashdance. While Robinson’s big break was working up moves for Michael Jackson‘s opulent “Remember the Time” video, she would later work TRL stars like Britney Spears, Aaliyah and the Backstreet Boys.

So while “Bo$$” marks a “C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-T” turn for Fifth Harmony, the corresponding video actually reminds of Boys’ “As Long As You Love Me” clip — down to the flirting, flashing lights and, yes, that chair routine. Do Fifth Harmony pull it all off, though? Watch the “Bo$$” video up top, then sound off in the comments below.
