imitation.jpgCome on, music-blogosphere! Why so little love for Imitation Electric Piano? Not only are they from the U.K., but they have a cute female singer, a fey-but-fierce electro-pop sound, and a new record on Drag City. They’re just the kind of band you guys usually go coconuts for, so get with the program! Pip pip!

Well, I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me, fey-but-fierce fails when your lead singer conjures up sound memories of the vocal flutterings of that nymph Julia Louis-Dreyfus got turned into just before the set choral piece in the 80s movie Troll. Too much “fairy flava”, as one 80s site puts it: http://www.fast-rewind.com/troll.htm
