The Vault: Distressed Deb Asks, “Is That All There Is?”
Harvard dropout and theatre reviewer Cristina Monet released a string of unhinged singles as Cristina, with the second being a disco-era update of the cabaret staple “Is That All There Is?” Cristina’s lyrical liberties, however, resulted in “Is That” composers Lieber and Stoller clamping down on the single’s release–we’re guessing the S & M references freaked them out–and it languished in legal limbo until 2004, when Ze Records put out two CDs of her gloriously ennui-filled club music.
