Ever since the release of his 2004 album Since We Last Spoke, DJ and Radiohead lover RJD2 has been threatening to quit hip-hop in favor of more straight-ahead singer-songwriter material. We didn’t realize just how far he was straying, though, until we put up his new single, “You Never Had It So Good,” yesterday on his MySpace page: Despite its electronic opening, it’s essentially a piano-pop number, albeit with a really great rhythm track.

Elsewhere on his MySpace page, RJ finds time to compare the folkie Sufjan Stevens to the flaky MF Doom, prompting some humorous back-and-forth comment confusion on Stevens’ hip-hop cred.
