Elton John: He Cannot Feel The Love Tonight

Judging by a mid-show tirade last week on Long Island, Elton’s John’s wide-ranging enemies’ list–which includes Madonna, Taiwanese cameraman, and a powdered-wig shop in Brighton that ripped him off in 1987–now includes his record label. During his Thursday-night performance at Nassau Coliseum, John railed against Interscope, claiming they didn’t support his instantly D.O.A. album The Captain & The Kid. According to Matablog, his bon mots included:

“Interscope is the worst record label ever” “They spent not one penny advertising the album” “They can fuck off” “Please drop me from the label” “Sorry about all that label stuff…. But I really hate their fucking guts.”

(Words by Bernie Taupin)

Hilariously, TMZ.com claims that John’s profanity-enriched outburst caused “shock and dismay” among the fanny-packing crowd, meaning that no one working for the site has ever been to Long Island. But we fully support John’s new anti-label stance: Not only does he have a legitimate gripe about the label all but dumping the better-than-you’d-expect Captain into the marketplace, but this could also distract him from helping Keane get back together.
