Leak Of The Day: Modest Mouse’s “Ship” Sails Around The Internet
We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, the first album featuring the Johnny Marr-fortified lineup of Modest Mouse, is set to come out next month, but MP3s have started to make their way around the Web’s back alleys. The record’s most striking contributions don’t come from the former Smiths guitarist, but from Shins lead singer James Mercer; he’s on three of Ship‘s tracks, including “Florida,” where Isaac Brock’s growly yell gives way to Mercer floating in with a sweet, singsongy chorus:
