The Vault: Pailhead Helps Start The Industrial Evolution
In 1988, Fugazi’s Ian MacKaye and Ministry’s Al Jourgensen teamed up to form Pailhead, a one-off side project that combined hardcore with industrial, and was therefore unlistenable to more than 90 percent of the earth’s population. But for those who enjoy hardcore-style vocals and assaultive drums, the group’s TraitEP still holds up remarkably well, especially the wiretapping back-and-forth anthem “Ballad”:
