Jane Child Takes Us Back To The Days When Women Could Wear Nose Chains, Too

A friend of mine, upon seeing Robyn’s “Handle Me” video, said to me, “This is all I think of when hearing this new Robyn song,” and then IMed me a YouTube link to Jane Child’s “Don’t Want To Fall In Love,” a No. 2 song in 1990 that was a boombox favorite of mine for that glorious summer. And of course, being easily distracted as I am, I’ve listened to it a bunch since my pal made this declaration, and I still can’t get the image of her even-longer-than-Rob-and-Fab cornrows shaking all over the place as she oh-so-dramatically smashed out the song’s larger-than-life chords on her fancy-ass keyboards.

Thanks to Wikpedia, I’m now on the hunt for Child’s cover of (seriously) “We Don’t Need Another Hero.” Yes, seriously. And now, of course, I need to hear a Robyn cover of that song, too.
