Like it or not, Maura’s absence today provides me, Dan Gibson, an opportunity to jump into the Idolator record books* with my sixth appearance as guest editor of this fine site. Probably, you’ve been thinking, “What’s that Dan Gibson been doing with himself since his last Idolator post on July 30th?”

Besides my illustrious employment with a certain alternative media conglomerate (which I probably should consider informing that I quit), I’ve been inspired by the guy who comes up every time I Google my name, the late Canadian wildlfe audio documentarian and New Age musician, Dan Gibson (his picture accompanies this post). Unfortunately, recording the sounds of the great outdoors apparently is a much easier task in locales with cooler climates than my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, so I don’t have much to share with you. Until I capture the majesty of the Sonoran Desert on tape, please enjoy the music of the better known Dan Gibson, and some pictures of butterflies.

* As far as I know, there is not an actual Idolator record book. However, if one did exist, the “live blog” section alone would make for fascinating reading.
