Because the song at No. 35 is a heavy part of a balanced breakfast.

“Just As The Day Was Dawning” will have you starting your morning right, whether you’re planning on spending it pillaging while doing a one-legged jig, chasing down pedestrians in a gated community on a riding mower, getting fucked up on mead-based cocktails, laying waste to your high school with a potato cannon, or just playing Tetris for the next eight hours. (Or perhaps, as this astute Paper Thin Walls review of another track off BB’s Here Come The Waterworks put it, “riding a bear while fighting a dragon.”) Big Business are one Murder City Devil and one Karp (who should be revered til after the apocalypse for their side of that split Troubleman 12-inch alone), lurking in Los Angeles after an apprenticeship in Seattle and already tuff enuff to be asked to help watch over the low-end for chief DNA strand the Melvins, and the booming sludge the duo makes is all brute force and belly laughs, one pretty much indivisible from the other. For reference, check out the way drummer Coady Willis brings the ruckus on the live YouTube clip above, but be sure to audition the studio version on the band’s MySpace to fully appreciate BB’s robust ass-kicking.
