As previously covered in this corner of the internet, Idolator, as a site, has a bit of trouble staying objective with regards to the music of Norwegian pop star Annie. So, it probably surprises no one that we’re covering the MySpace debut of a new Annie track, “Girlfriend.”

And now, my liveblog of the 3 minutes and 12 seconds it took me to listen to “Girlfriend”.

0:00: Even the silence while the track is loading is awesome.

0:09: Wait, another “your girlfriend hates me” song? I hope the Rubinoos kept their lawyer on speed-dial.

0:22: This doesn’t sound remarkably different than her previous material, which is fine, because that previous material was awesome.

0:39: Did she just say “cold and sadistic”? Subversive pop music is the best!

1:10: This pre-chorus breakdown is spectacular.

You know, just go listen to it. Only 1390 plays so far, and half of those are probably Maura. Until her cover of “Two of Hearts” arrives, this is the best option we have.
