The Country Hall Of Fame Is One For Three On Mandrell Sisters Now

Somehow, even though Barbara Mandrell won two Entertainer of the Year awards and scored six No. 1 singles, she was on the outside, looking in on the Country Music Hall of Fame. Today, the Hall finally rectified that situation when it announced that Mandrell would be inducted alongside Hee Haw star/guitar whiz Roy Clark and session musician Charlie McCoy. A few video highlights from Mandrell’s career below the cut.

Well deserved, but don’t forget the badassery of Roy Clark:

Or Charlie McCoy, for that matter:

That’s crazy that it took that long for her!

Thanks for the videos, everyone – including the Clark and McCoy badassery, Chris N.

Before Reba, there was Barbara. I’m probably not out of line to say she reigned as country music’s biggest female star in the late 1970s and early-80s. Dare I say it, her 1981 live album is a fun time. She almost met a premature demise, too, in a horrific car accident in the mid-1980s.

I can’t help but harken back to the variety show “Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters” …how can she get into the Hall of Fame without Louise and Irlene?!
