Shania Twain To Star In Reality Show—That Don’t Impress Us Much

Judging American Idol wannabes was just the first step in Shania Twain’s return to the spotlight—the country music star will appear in her own TV series on Oprah’s new network OWN. The reality show will be called Why Not? With Shania Twain. Oh, how we’d love to answer that rhetorical question.

According to a statement from the network, Shania’s show “will follow [Twain] as she begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures.”

Shania definitely has a dramatic back story that fits the reality show bill pretty well—after quickly becoming one of the most successful country music artists and female recording artists of all time, she took time off to raise her son, and hasn’t released an album with new music since 2002. And in 2008 she had her world shell-shocked by the revelation that her producer husband Robert “Mutt” Lange had been having an affair with his secretary (cliche, but still pretty reprehensible).

Twain is now moving on with her life since her divorce, finding love with her new boyfriend Frédéric Thiébaud (which, in a surreal Wife Swap twist, is the ex-husband of the woman with which Lange cheated on Twain) and readying her next musical output.

“I feel like in a way I’m starting over, with everything,” Shania told Oprah in a recent interview. “This is a very personal experience that I think is important to share. This is an experience of recovery.”

What it feels like to us is Denise Richards: It’s Complicated, but we hope we’re wrong, and Shania’s reality show has us this giddy with delight:
