Maroon 5′s “Moves Like Jagger” Moves To #1, No Thanks To The VMAs

Though Maroon 5 was left out of this past weekend’s VMA festivities, it appears Adam Levine – who has made it perfectly clear how he feels about modern day MTV – doesn’t need a moon man to score a #1 hit.  “Moves Like Jagger” has finally topped the Hot 100, making the whistle-happy tune the band’s first #1 since their 2007 single “Makes Me Wonder.” (This is the first time Christina Aguilera, who guests on the song, has seen the top of the charts since 2001′s “Lady Marmalade.”)

The Voice coaches’ groovy tune is currently at #3 on the iTunes charts, just six places above Levine’s collaboration with Gym Class Heroes’, “Stereo Hearts”. But before all the pop stars there start giving the middle finger to MTV, it’s undeniable to see the VMAs’ influence in the rest of the iTunes Top 10 — Adele’s “Someone Like You” (#1), Lady Gaga’s “You And I” (#3), Cobra Starship’s “You Make Me Feel…” (#5) and Beyonce’s “Love On Top” (#7) were no doubt aided by their inclusion in Sunday’s awards show.

Meanwhile, the 2011 MTV VMAs queen Katy Perry doesn’t fair quite so well this week – her single “Last Friday Night (TGIF)” falls from #1 to #5. Alas, nothing gold can stay, even with a rap verse from Missy Elliott.

Its such a smash song, so glad to see it become the number hit it was destined to be, go Christina…… oh and…. ya’know Maroon 5 and such………….

sorry brandon, but i think xtina is really not necessarily there. her oversinging has killed the whole happy breezy feeling of it.

Christina really held back on this song, she isn’t in the slightest over singing even when she went higher at the end her verse that was extremely tame, and yet tasteful

Not only (may I add), that she & adam made it to #1 but also they did not sell it on a 0.99 cents price – HA.

The former #1 “Party Rock Anthem,” from LMFAO with Lauren Bennett and GoonRock, holds at #2 this week, selling another 134,000 copies.

Haters will always hate! Anyway, congratulations to Maroon5 and Xtina, well deserved, about time she got another #1… Can’t wait for her new album, I’m sure there’ll be more hits to come!!!

What do you mean christina is over singing on moves like jagger this track is one of her most stripped down vocal pop performances i really felt she could have sung harder on this track but hey its not her song it’s maroon 5s & she is a guest vocalist. still went to number 1 regardless if she was on it or not so either way THERE ARE NO LOSERS JUST WINNERS!!!!!!!!!
