‘Glee’ Coves Katy Perry And Pink: Listen To “I Kissed A Girl” And “Perfect”

Tomorrow night, Glee is celebrating female musicians with an episode called “I Kissed A Girl”, featuring songs exclusively written by women. Dolly Parton, k.d. lang, Melissa Etheridge and Cyndi Lauper all boast songs performed by New Directions, but the covers you probably care most about are from two of today’s leading pop ladies: Pink’s “F**ckin Perfect” becomes just simply “Perfect” (and is perfectly sung by Darren Criss and Chris Colfer) and Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl”, first performed by Tina during the show’s pilot, gets a second life when all the gals shake and shimmy to it — to the boys’ delight.

Can we go out on a limb and say Lea Michele should never attempt to sing a Katy Perry song on the show again? Both here and in her previous cover of “Firework”, the otherwise-fabulous singer’s voice turns into a delicate baby coo, especially compared to Naya, who knows how to really sell the song with the necessary attitude.
