The track features raspy but still impressive vocals from Houston, who allegedly recorded the song during the sessions for her final studio album, 2009′s I Look To You; the fact that her once-immaculate voice sounds more wearied than in her earlier hits makes the inspirational message of “Never Give Up” all the more affecting. While the production doesn’t feel particularly fresh, it’s still a fine entry in Houston’s catalogue and a worthy testimony to her legacy. Listen to the track above.
