Janelle Monae’s “Dance Apocalyptic” Video: Watch Another Teaser

Janelle Monae lets loose in another preview of her “Dance Apocalyptic” video. While Monae’s first sneak peek offered a glance at the set (a stark striped background, back-up players in crisp white uniforms, bright stage lights), the new clip, courtesy of BET, shows that Monae refuses to stand still.

Instead of her usual pompadour — the Monae, as the singer once said — she sports a full head of crimped hair, which bobs as she flails around the stage. And the longer the preview runs, panning out to show Monae’s backup dancers and studio audience, the more it recalls Andre 3000‘s “Hey Ya!” video, which was inspired by yet another iconic pop moment: The Beatleslandmark appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Monae’s “Dance Apocalyptic” video drops later today. For now, check out the preview up top.
