Avril Lavigne & Chad Kroeger’s “Let Me Go”: Hear Chavril’s Soaring Ballad

Avril Lavigne released her duet with husband Chad Kroeger, “Let Me Go,” which appears on Avril’s self-titled album (out November 5). And anyone who feared the Chavril track would be some unholy union highlighting the most obnoxious aspects of Avril’s snotty pop and Chad’s rock-by-numbers mookery can breathe a sigh of relief. Because “Let Me Go” is a lush, high drama ballad. We already knew Lavigne can slay a love song, but we had no idea she could keep her husband’s butt-rock tendencies in check on one.

The track is refreshingly straightforward, and it eschews crunch, with piano chords driving the verses paired with a soaring, orchestral chorus. Well done, Chavril!
