Target Refuses To Sell Beyonce’s New Album

Hungry for a physical copy of Beyonce‘s game-changing fifth album? You might want to avoid Target then when the CD/DVD hits shelves on Friday (December 20). The retail giant is refusing to stock the ultimate stocking filler because it was initially released as an iTunes exclusive.

“At Target we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections,” Target spokeswoman Erica Julkowski told Billboard.

“While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyonce in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats,” she continued. “At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce’s new self-titled album Beyonce.”

King B didn’t push her cart through their Houston store for this! There’s always Walmart, who will sell the CD/DVD, but they refuse to stock the explicit version and we all know how freaky Yonce is. I guess that leaves Best Buy or Amoeba.

Is Target justified in taking this approach? Have your say in the comments below.
