The wait for new Lana Del Rey material has been shortened significantly by news that the perennially glum diva has recorded the theme song to Maleficent. In fact, her cover of “Once Upon A Dream” (from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty) will hit iTunes on January 26 — straight after the Grammys.

Given that the Angelina Jolie-starring film tells the Sleeping Beauty legend from the perspective of the legendary villainess, it makes sense that they tapped someone with a taste for dark and twisted tales. And, as we all know, nobody does despair better than Lana. Listen to the original version of the Disney ballad after the jump.

Is this song a good fit for Lana? Have your say in the comments below.
