Cee Lo Green stopped by Ellen and surprised everyone by announcing that he won’t be returning to The Voice for the fall season, so that he can focus on his next album and other television opportunities. “I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year,” he said. “But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice too. So I’m not coming back guys.”

“I’m not coming back at all. I don’t want to wear out my welcome there,” he continued. “I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with my album.”

The Voice returns February 24 with the spring lineup of Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. For the fall season later this year, Shakira will be swapped out for Christina Aguilera, and now NBC will have to figure out whether they’ll replace Cee Lo or just give Usher the option to stay on.
