La Roux’s ‘Trouble In Paradise’: Have An Early Listen Of Elly Jackson’s Sophomore Album
With Ben Langmaid no longer in the La Roux fold, flame-haired frontwoman Elly Jackson is going it alone for sophomore LP Trouble in Paradise. And from the sound of things, she needn’t worry, as the album is spilling forth with bubbly synths, ’80s-leaning hooks and a modern pop aesthetic. If you’re a follower of the Grammy-winning act, then you’ve more than likely already heard “Let Me Down Gently,” “Uptight Downtown” and “Tropical Chancer”. Now generous snippets of each Trouble In Paradise track are streaming on La Roux’s official site. From “Kiss And Not Tell” (i.e. the song that caused the Elly/Ben split) to “Cruel Sexuality” to, um, “Sexoteque” (?!), these gems are reminding us just why we fell in love with La Roux in the first place…and how much we’ve missed Jackson’s presence on the pop scene.
