S Club 7 Reuniting For UK Children In Need Charity Show

Maybe it was the fact that we here at Idolator included Rachel Stevens‘ 2005 solo LP Come And Get It in our recent 13 Great Pop Albums That Were Overlooked & Underrated In Their Time roundup that lured the singer back to the spotlight? Whatever the case may be, she and her onetime bandmates Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Hannah Spearritt — aka S Club 7 — are reuniting for the first time in 12 years for a live performance on the annual BBC Children In Need charity show.

Here in the States the group was mostly famous for their late-’90s Fox series S Club 7 In Miami and 2000 single “Never Had A Dream Come True.” But in their home country of the UK, S Club 7 racked up 11 Top 10 singles during their five-year run, with four of those going to #1.

The BBC notes that the band “will perform a medley of their greatest hits on the BBC appeal show on 14 November.” Back in 2000, “Never Had A Dream Come True” was released as the year’s official Children In Need charity single. It eventually crossed over in the States, where it became a Top 10 hit the following year.

But enough talking about it — why don’t we just haul that slow jam out now?
