Disclosure's 'Caracal': Album Review
Read our thoughts on the UK production duo's sophomore effort.

Among the midst of heavyweight pop stars that Idolator typically covers, we occasionally stumble upon some pretty awesome musical gems that emerge from the usual realm. The latest comes from Phillip LaRue, whose lovely “Memories” video we are premiering today (September 30).

The Nashville-based singer/songwriter keeps it organic for the new visual, as he decided to use his wife instead of an actress to play his lover. “Memories” as a song itself is completely weighted with heartfelt emotion, and the video takes that to new heights. It is set in a massive loft and shows the couple in bed together — but not in an overtly sexual way. Instead, their delicate caresses, longing stares, slight frustration and overall romance will make you want to fall in love.

LaRue has this to say about his new video:

“I came up with the idea for this song after I couldn’t sleep and I watched my wife sleeping for a bit…I noticed that every breath was different… it struck me how literally every second is the not the same. There is always something changing the moment. Then I began trying to remember some of our favorite memories together..which led me to leave early in the am to head to the studio to write this song. Life is fleeting but thats what makes it lovely. its a beautiful thing. When I told the director Ryan Hamblin about how the song came about we decided to make something simple, real and raw that represented the very reason why I wrote this song. I think he did a great job capturing the essence the song.”

Look out for Phillip LaRue’s forthcoming solo album You on November 13 via Razor & Tie.
