Rihanna’s Long-Overdue ‘Anti’ LP Rumored To Drop In Early December
Rihanna’s 8th LP Anti has enjoyed one of the messiest rollouts in recent pop history. Due earlier this year, the album was postponed when singles “Bitch Better Have My Money” and “American Oxygen” bombed (by Rih’s standards). Everything appeared to be back on track by October when the Barbadian babe revealed the cover and announced a promo blitz for November, but that was cancelled without explanation. According to Hits Daily Double, the long-overdue opus will now drop on November 27 as a Tidal exclusive — followed by a full release on December 4.
Admittedly, HDD has been wrong about Anti‘s release date before. However, if RiRi wants to get those all-important Christmas sales, early December makes sense. The real shock is the rumored one-week Tidal exclusive. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. It’s sure to eat into official sales, which is dangerous given the expected domination of Adele and the fact that December 4 also sees the arrival of Coldplay’s 7th LP A Head Full Of Dreams. Rihanna might have to settle for the number three spot.
