From Kelly To Maddie, Looking Back On All 16 ‘American Idol’ Winners

Maddie Poppe Wins 'American Idol'
The 16th winner of 'American Idol' drops her debut single 'Going Going Gone.'

Last night (May 21), Maddie Poppe was crowned the winner of the new season of American Idol. The 20-year-old celebrated by inking a deal with Hollywood Records and unveiling her vibrant new single “Going Going Gone.” She will spend the summer touring with the remainder of the season’s Top 7 and recording her debut album. With her win, Maddie takes her place next to some of pop’s biggest names.

Since winning the inaugural season in 2002, Kelly Clarkson remains the one of the most recognizable and best-selling alumni from the show. The 36-year-old released her eighth LP, Meaning Of Life, in 2017. On Sunday (May 20) she hosted the Billboard Music Awards and treated fans to two powerhouse performances. Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood remains a crossover country queen. The “The Champion” singer is gearing up to release her new LP, Cry Pretty, later this year.

Over the years, other winners have had varying levels of success. In honor of the latest win, we have compiled a gallery of the 16 victors up top. Take a look and see what everyone has been up to recently.
