It’s been an interesting year for Lana Del Rey. She delivered a triumphant sophomore set (Ultraviolence was my favorite album of 2014), but its campaign was overshadowed by, you know, those quotes about wanting to be dead. The album was also snubbed by the Grammys and failed to produce any radio hits, which was to be expected given its the comparatively gritty content. On the bright side, she did get a nomination for her Big Eyes soundtrack song.
While 2014 was something of a roller coaster ride commercially, Lana remained the muse of fashion photographers and delivered a string of memorable photo shoots and magazine covers. The latest addition to her ever-expanding modeling portfolio is a chic spread in French Grazia magazine. She looks extremely stylish and modern, coming across like a gorgeous mix of Angelina Jolie and Brigitte Bardot. Peruse the pics up top. More »
Nicki Minaj has many personas: Boss Ass Bitch, Roman, Nicki Lewinsky, Ratchet Barb — the list goes on and on! But now, the rapper is trying her hand at modeling, and the results are utterly ***flawless. Minaj is the star of Roberto Cavalli’s Spring/Summer 2015 ad campaign, shot by famed photographer (and Lana Del Rey‘s boyfriend) Francesco Carrozzini.
The “Only” diva flaunts her best poses for the shoot, as she dons flowing summer dresses, bright bodycons and some serious shades. The ad campaign highlights just how pretty Minaj is, and also displays her more woman-like side. The editorial photos come straight after the release of her third LP The Pinkprint, which dropped on December 15. More »
By now you’ve likely seen the shirtless photo of Calvin Harris that was doing the rounds this week, taken during a behind-the-scenes moment while the Scottish producer/DJ was on the set for his Emporio Armani shoot. The 30-year-old is the new face of the label’s 2015 Spring/Summer line, so now he can add the words “top model” to his already-impressive resume.
It turns out there was another shirtless snap of Harris to be found on his Instagram, which you can see in the gallery above, along with pics from the actual Armani campaign. Looks like Versace and Madonna now have some stiff pop star competition lined up for the months ahead. More »
“I’m a female rebel, can’t you tell?” sang Miley Cyrus on Bangerz highlight “4×4,” and we all know she wasn’t lying. The 22-year-old has been flying through a fucks-free zone since dropping the aforementioned LP. The diva records what she likes (from ’70s folk covers to quirky collaborations with alt-rockers The Flaming Lips), shops at the same place as Courtney Stodden and gets naked as often as possible. All of which makes her utterly iconic.
Even by Miley’s lofty standards, 2014 was a banner year for nudity. While she will never beat Terry Richardson‘s soft-porn shoot for sheer shock value, the pop star makes up for it with consistency. The “Adore You” hitmaker flashed a nipple for W magazine, shared nude Bangerz tour booklet outtakes and stripped off completely for V magazine. She also flooded Instagram with an avalanche of raunchy edits that made life worth living. See the social media pioneer’s sexiest snaps up top. More »
Struggling to find the perfect gift for someone special? Looking for a way to jazz up your apartment? Hoping to come out in style? Well, stop stressing because Cher‘s got you! The legendary diva’s online store has been updated with Christmas merchandise and let’s just say she makes Santa redundant with her glittering, glamorous and cost-effective wares.
Where to start? There’s a variety of fashionable t-shirts (the one with Cher perched on a candy cane is pure gold), a hoodie for the edgier fan and a selection of coffee mugs. Imagine how jealous your colleagues are going to be when they see you sipping from one of these future collector’s items! Personally, I need the Christmas sweater — a bargain at $55 — and one of those striking tree ornaments. Peruse the 68-year-old’s Xmas goodies up top. More »
FKA Twigs has become known for her artistic and unique image, but for the January 2015 issue of Vogue US the singer strips down to reveal a fresh face! In the fashion editorial, the UK native loses her signature slicked-down baby hairs (yet still has her bushy brows) and flaunts a natural and super-cute girly look.
The new editorial spread (shot by legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier) tops off FKA Twigs’ awesome year in music, as she released her debut album LP1 (which features “Video Girl” and “Two Weeks”), teamed up with Google Glass, is dating Robert Pattinson and even made our list of Pop’s Class of 2014! Did you forget to spin Jennifer Hudson‘s disco-inflected JHUD this year? Or Röyksopp‘s The Inevitable End? Did Ashanti’s Braveheart pass you by at the beginning of the year?
Every year, dozens of our favorite pop artists compete for our attention with their latest studio albums. And unfortunately, whether it be more pressing pop culture events, a long shadow cast by superstar acts sucking up all the public’s attention or simply a lack of major promotion budgets, some of the year’s releases get quietly swept underneath the pop carpet.
We’re here to dig ‘em out and let you look over what you might have missed this year. Check out our gallery of underappreciated, under-the-radar and entirely missed records of 2014. Do you know any other pop records that the public mostly missed? Have something to say about any of the albums included? Sound off in the comments below. More »
Last night (Monday, December 15), Mariah Carey kicked off the first of a string of six holiday concerts at New York City’s Beacon Theatre to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her iconic album Merry Christmas. (You know the one — it produced the last great yuletide classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”) The eye-popping show, though a short one at about an hour and 15 minutes long, saw Mimi tear through festive tunes from 1994′s Merry Christmas as well as 2010′s Merry Christmas II You while joined on stage by her trusty backup vocalists (including mainstay Trey Lorenz), a full choir, a pack of singing and dancing children and even a couple trapeze artists.
During a small break from the holiday music, Carey began to belt out “Hero,” but a problem that plagued her from the very first number on the setlist finally came to a head: her mic pack popped out of the back of her dress. More »
Beyonce has blessed the world with a new candid of Blue Ivy. The world’s most famous toddler crashed one of her mom’s impromptu photo shoots and stole the show. I’m not sure why Queen Bey is posing against a wall decorated with copper piping. I guess she needed something to post on her addictive Instagram, which has just passed 22 million followers. The rest of the shoot finds the game-changing diva looking typically ***flawless despite rocking a couple of questionable outfits.
It’s nice to see the 33-year-old having some down time after a particularly busy year. Beyonce continued to draw away from the pack in 2014, with record-breaking tour receipts and bumper record sales. She also birthed another viral sensation with her much-copied “7/11″ video and nabbed six Grammy nominations, including one for Album Of The Year. Oh, and Beysus also blessed Nicki Minaj with a collab. See her pics up top. More »
You wanna hot bodeh? No one knows how to get to work (bitch) better than Miss Britney Spears, who flaunts her unbelievably toned figure on the cover of the upcoming January/February 2015 issue of Women’s Health.
With her upcoming highly anticipated collaborations with Iggy Azalea and Giorgio Moroder both on the way next year, the Piece Of Me Vegas showgirl’s showing off her incredibly sexy bod and talking fitness, food (“I’m really into raw food — sushi, basically”) and staying Healthyney inside the magazine. She also shares her outlook on life: “I’m not about the biggest and the best…I’m about enjoying my life, more than anything.” It’s nice to see and hear our Brit Brit so happy and healthy!
Check out all the photos from the shoot up top courtesy of Britney Galaxy, and watch a behind-the-scenes clip of B-Girl posing and dancing her way though the photoshoot after the jump. More »
