Carly Rae Jepsen is reportedly returning this year with the new song, as confirmed by Interscope Records.

Um. Are any of us even prepared for what Carly Rae Jepsen is about to serve us in 2015?

Apart from the recently revealed title of her comeback track (“I Really Like You,” according to a now deleted Interscope Records post), we haven’t heard too much about what the “Call Me Maybe” darling is planning to serve up in 2015 as a follow-up to her enormously underrated, sparkling electro-pop debut, Kiss. As it turns out? She’s still cutting tracks — and with some majorly promising heavyweights, no less.

In a new Instagram posted last night, Carly Rae revealed that she’s in the studio with Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid. “Recorded one of my fav songs today with – @devhynes and @arielrechtshaid,” she wrote, accompanied by a mini-collage of photos of the artists in the studio together. (Together, Dev and Ariel co-crafted Sky Ferreira‘s “Everything Is Embarrassing,” among many other pop gems in their own right for the likes of HAIM, Justin Bieber, Charli XCX, Solange and FKA twigs.)

Carly Rae Jepsen’s New Single Is Called “I Really Like You” According To Interscope’s Promotional Website

Carly Rae Jepsen covers "Part Of Your World" from 'The little Mermaid'. Have a listen.

Say what you like about Carly Rae Jepsen (one-hit wonder, 2012′s Meghan Trainor etc.), the Canadian songbird’s Kiss LP is still a near-perfect pop record. Which other diva could chirp convincingly about holding hands and making wedding rings of string while staring 30 in the face? Anyway, the “Call Me Maybe” diva could be on the brink of 2014′s most relevant comeback. According to Interscope’s promo website, she has a new single on the way called “I Really Like You.”

So when does this gem drop? Early 2015 is as specific as the listing gets. That’s still pretty exciting news. For a while there, I wondered if we would ever get new music. It will be interesting to see which direction Carly takes. In June 2013, the 29-year-old said she was hoping to mix folk music with electronica. “I have a folky side in my blood from what I used to listen to with my parents,” the pop princess said. “And it’ll be fun to incorporate that more in the verses of the pop songs.” Can’t wait. Jay Leno Pokes Fun At Justin Bieber In Final ‘Tonight Show’ Monologue: Watch

As Jay Leno bid farewell to The Tonight Show, the late-night staple that he’s hosted on and off for 22 years, he lightened the mood by taking aim at Justin Bieber. “When I started hosting, Justin Bieber wasn’t even born yet,” he said. “That’s why we call those the good old days.”

As proof, Leno segued into a recent report that Bieber and his entourage filled a private jet with so much marijuana smoke, pilots had to wear oxygen masks to prevent a contact high. His suggestion? Fly on Snoop Dogg‘s jet, instead. Actor Billy Crystal, one of Leno’s first-ever guests, returned to Tonight to chime in during his own monologue.

“You were America’s nightlight,” Crystal said to Leno. “You helped us through good times and bad. The country would stay up at night for the monologue, to hear the news from your perspective. When it was announced recently that America’s number one domestic terrorist had been captured, who told us it was Justin Bieber? You did.” (See Leno and Crystal’s farewell monologues after the jump.) Carly Rae Jepsen Heads To Broadway To Star In ‘Cinderella’

We know, we know. Carly Rae Jepsen’s ascension from a British Columbian John Denver enthusiast to Canadian Idol second runner-up, to 2012-pop-song-of-the-year-title-holder was the stuff of…ugh…fairy tales. So, thanks to some Broadway casting director who will be smugly patting his own back for the next couple of years, it only makes sense that Jepsen will take over Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes’s lead role in Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella starting February 4. Rihanna’s ‘Styled To Rock’ Gets An Official Premiere Date & Lots Of Guest Stars

Well! Rihanna‘s executive producing a fashion-themed reality competition show called Styled To Rock, because that’s our world now, and she’s roped in some big talent to give her a hand: Pharrell will be serving as a mentor on the show, which pits up-and-coming fashion designers against each other as “they push their creative boundaries to the max” (oh dear), while there’s a long list of guest stars who will be making appearances on the show: Kid Cudi, Miley Cyrus, Carly Rae Jepsen, Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Minogue, Kelly Osbourne, The Band Perry, Naya Rivera, Big Sean, Nervo and Ne-Yo will all be giving their ol’ pal RiRi a helping hand.

As the press release helpfully reminds, on the line for the potential winner is $100,000 in cash, a feature in Glamour, and “the chance to become the next member of Rihanna’s design team,” which basically means cutting up Rodarte t-shirts into skank-tanks and fetching more Lucien Pellat-Finet cashmere sweaters from Opening Ceremony or whatever.  More »

Carly Rae Jepsen Covers “Part Of Your World” From ‘The Little Mermaid’: Listen

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from glorious Canadian songbird Carly Rae Jepsen. She has been hard at work on her edgy follow-up to Kiss but somehow found the time to belt out a cover of “Part Of Your World” from Disney’s classic animated film The Little Mermaid. Her version hit iTunes this week and it’s cute as a button. Like her.

While Carly Rae’s voice is perhaps better suited to uptempo dance-pop numbers, it’s nice to hear her try something different. The “Call Me Maybe” diva hits all the right notes, capturing Ariel’s sense of longing in her hopeful vocal. Listen to Jepsen’s version, and revisit your childhood, after the jump. More »

:: Carly Rae Jepsen may be a great singer, but sports isn’t her strong suit. The pop star threw an embarassing first pitch for the Tampa Bay Rays during their baseball game on July 14. Celebuzz recaps the flub: “Jepsen chucked the chunk of rawhide straight into the ground, sending it slowly rolling across the first-base line before hitting a cameraman.” Better stick to your day job, Carly! [Celebuzz]

:: Baz Luhrmann worked on The Great Gatsby soundtrack with Jay-Z, but now the superstar director is reviewing the rapper’s own music. Here’s what Luhrmann had to say about Magna Carta Holy Grail: “I heard some remarkable pieces from this new album early on but what is really exceptional about the whole work is its diversity. It’s not so much that Jay plays by the rules, he just makes them up as he goes along.” [MTV]
