As a bit of a lark, Ellie Goulding covered The Weeknd‘s seductive, cinematic song “High For This”, the opening track of the Toronto artist’s debut mixtape House Of Balloons. The Brit singer adds a bit of levity and delight to the somber tune with the help of producer Xaphoon Jones (the non-rapping half of duo Chiddy Bang). “Feels nice to just make songs and put them online,” tweeted Xaphoon. “Yes it does,” agreed Ellie. Wango Tango 2012 Lineup Includes Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, The Wanted & More

KIIS FM’s annual Wango Tango music event is typically jam-packed with (pop) star power, but the 2012 edition seems even bigger than usual. The May 12 event, which will take place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, will include peformances by Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Maroon 5, Foster the People, B.o.B, The Wanted, Gym Class Heroes, J. Cole, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, K’Naan, Chiddy Bang, Wallpaper. and Diggy Simmons. Also on hand will be Justin Bieber, though he won’t be performing — he’ll be introducing his new label signee, Carly Rae Jepsen.We’ll be disappointed if he didn’t sing at least a few lines from his new single “Boyfriend”, though.

Expect Prince to let out a high-pitched scream that would make James Brown proud. Just one week after its one-year anniversary, Adele’s Grammy-winning 21 has sold another 297,000 copies and holds onto the #1 position on Billboard‘s Top 200 for a 22nd non-consecutive frame, thus passing the 21-week stretch of MC Hammer’s Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em back in 1990. This now marks the longest run at the top since Prince’s Purple Rain soundtrack, which produced such hits as “When Doves Cry” and “I Would Die 4 U”, racked up 24 weeks between 1984 and 1985.

Chiddy and Xaphoon of Chiddy Bang are literally getting into character for their cheerful, fun-loving new video for their single “Ray Charles”, off their upcoming album Breakfast (out February 28). The Guinness record-breaking rap/DJ duo dress up as the Fresh Prince, the Blues Brothers and yes, Ray Charles, in the clip. (Jamie Foxx apparently doesn’t have a monopoly on Ray Charles impressions.) Philly MC Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege of Chiddy Bang spent his Thursday endlessly rhyming words together as he attempted to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Freestyle Rap. He had to rap longer than the previous record of 9 hours, 16 minutes, but, ever the showman, he went a little longer for a finishing time of 9 hours, 18 minutes, and 22 seconds.
