And now for something completely different: It’s Gwyneth Paltrow singing your favorite rap jams on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon!
Of course, Gwyneth’s no stranger to the music world: She’s sung songs like Pharrell‘s “Happy” on Glee, starred in Country Strong and even rapped a bit of N.W.A.‘s “Straight Outta Compton” on Graham Norton. And now, The GOOP-y One is serving up schmaltzy Broadway renditions of your favorite hip-hop jams alongside Jimmy. The songs being given all of Gwenny’s theatrical glamour? Drake‘s “Started From The Bottom,” Nicki Minaj‘s “Anaconda” and Big Sean‘s “I Don’t Fuck With You.”
With Jimmy on the keys, Gwyneth converts the radio hits into over-the-top musical numbers, dressed in an unusual head-to-toe pink ensemble. To be fair, her vocals were on point, although can anything really beat Ariana Grande‘s own Broadway take on classic rap cuts? Perhaps they should have a battle. Make it happen, Jimmy! More »
Welcome to the first full week of January, aka Coachella lineup announcement time! This year’s annual fest, staged in Indio, California, will take place over the weekends of April 10 – 12 and April 17 – 19. Headliners include hard rock veterans AC/DC (both Fridays), Jack White (Saturday) and Drake (Sunday), while filling in the lower rungs on the roster are acts such as festival faves Florence + The Machine, David Guetta, The Weeknd, Axwell, Kiesza, Marina And The Diamonds, RAC, Gorgon City and FKA twigs.
As usual, it’s quite an eclectic blend of talent. None of the headliners are really jumping out as a big surprise, to be completely honest, but maybe there will be some super awesome special effects or at least a hilariously snarky listicle in the lead-up to the festival to make up for that?
Full lineup lies in wait below. More »

The lyric video for Nicki Minaj‘s “Only” single sparked a lot of political controversy, but the official version has taken a very different route! The six-minute long clip is an S&M fest that stars the rap diva, Drake and Lil Wayne. In what is probably her sexiest video yet, Minaj plays a fiery dominatrix dressed in all black lingerie as she leads an underground sex dungeon. Chris Brown also makes a creepy, almost possessed cameo — complete with amber-colored contacts.
If you’ve been a little naughty, this video will definitely make you want a spanking — in the best way possible! Minaj’s forthcoming LP, The Pinkprint — which has tracks like the Meek Mill-assisted “Big Daddy,” her “Feelin’ Myself” collaboration with Beyonce, “The Crying Game” featuring Jessie Ware, All Things Go,” “Bed Of Lies” and more — is set to be released on December 15. The governor’s spokesperson stated they had a “productive conversation about doing a top-to-bottom review of the criminal-justice system, and how we can all work together to pass a reform package that ensures equality in the eyes of the law.” [Complex]
:: Bad news for Drake, whose 2013 Nothing Was The Same LP was the most pirated album of ExtraTorrent, one of the biggest torrent sites on the web. Maroon 5‘s “Payphone” single landed in second place, with Jay Z‘s Magna Carta Holy Grail LP in third. Yikes! [Popdust]

What happens at Art Basel stays at Art Basel — that is, until the mainstream media hears about it. As you might or might not already know, Drake and Diddy got into a spat at the art event down at LIV nightclub that ended with Diddy throwing a punch, reportedly because of a dispute about music rights. (And, thanks to our friends at Stereogum, we now know that dispute might be directly related to the allegedly stolen beat for Drake’s “0 to 100.”)
Drake hasn’t said a peep about the incident until today, posting two photos looking entirely unbothered in a fancy bathrobe in his hotel room. “They’re either talking shit about you or stealing the shit you’re talking…either way the name been poppin,” the rapper captioned the moody black and white off-the-shoulder shot, looking quite pensive. The second, also lavish, seemed to be more of a shout-out to comedian Kevin Hart — and cheese: “I put on a @kevinhart4real hat to eat this room service. I am slowly starting to understand why you constantly wear these. It made my meal feel more exotic. Cheddar was looking more like a provolone or a rare Brie. Thanks Kev.” In either case, he certainly looks happy and healthy.

Following the fight that broke out between Diddy and Drake on Sunday at Miami’s LIV nightclub, Sam Sneaker tweeted, “It definitely wasn’t about Cassie,” in response to rumors that Drake had started the drama by making a lewd comment to Diddy’s longtime girlfriend. In fact, other reports seem to now indicate that the brawl was more about business.
An Us Weekly source told the publication that the fight “took place outside of the club and that it revolved around music rights to a song.”
“Diddy was the one that was upset with the music rights,” the source said to Us. “It started inside the club, and then the fight ended up happening outside.” More »
Wait, what? Here we were all set to slowly lapse into a nice, pre-holiday calm, and along come reports of buddies Diddy and Drake, pictured above at Diddy’s New Year’s Eve party (with Rick Ross), getting into a scuffle.
According to MTV News, the brawl between the two rappers is alleged to have happened during DJ Khaled‘s birthday party at Miami’s LIV nightclub on Sunday (December 7), during the Art Basel festivities. The site claims it was “able to confirm the fight with a source who witnessed the incident,” and mentions the rumors currently going around that things got heated between the two when Drake made some sort of comment to Diddy’s girlfriend Cassie.
This is all sounding more lurid and gossipy by the second, so we’ll just let Khaled’s pal Sam Sneaker, who was apparently an eye witness to the fisticuffs, do the talking from here. Catch his tweets about the incident below. More »
