In early November, we asked Idolator readers to vote for their favorite albums from the first half of 2014, and followed that up two weeks ago with a poll featuring LPs released between July and December. And now the results are in, the numbers have been tallied and we’re presenting you with the 10 Best Albums Of 2014, as chosen by you!
Altogether, nearly 74,000 votes were cast for the 40 albums included on both polls, with each album within the Top 10 racking up at least 1,000 of those votes a piece. Two of the albums represented below even wound up on our own 10 Best Albums Of 2014 list, as chosen by the Idolator editors.
Head below to see the results for which 10 albums were voted by you as the best of the best this year! More »

‘s blockbuster “Dark Horse”
visual is the most-watched music video of 2014 (thus far) with just under 500 million views. It’s hardly surprising given the dazzling special effects and iconic choreography
. The rest of the countdown contains a bunch of familiar faces including Shakira
, who appears twice with “Can’t Remember To Forget You”
and “La La La (Brazil 2014)”, and Iggy Azalea
More surprising is the YouTube slayage of Enrique Iglesias. He also has two entries in the top 10 with current smash “Bailando” and Spanish language hit “El Perdedor”. The high ranking of The Chainsmokers‘ “#Selfie” underlines its online popularity, while Pitbull cements his status as Mr. Worldwide by racking up hundreds of millions of views for “We Are One”. is shaping up to be the crossover hit of the summer. The original Spanish version, which features Cuban artists Genta De Zona
and Descemer Bueno
, has already conquered Latin radio formats and YouTube. (The tropical video has racked up more than 100 million views). An English edit was inevitable and the now Sean Paul
-assisted club-banger rocked into the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 this week.
The next step in Enrique’s slow march to chart domination is the release of a killer remix courtesy of Mack and Jet Set Vega. All three DJs (JSV is a duo) are based in Miami, so they know a thing or two about combining Latin rhythms and sizzling synths. Their EDM overhaul is pretty much irresistible and should get clubs hopping from South Beach to Chicago. Take a listen after the jump. More »
‘ 10th studio album Sex + Love
hasn’t produced any crossover hits (the heartthrob still reigns supreme on the Latin Airplay chart) but that could all change with a new English version of world music-flavored floorfiller “Bailando”. To help make the song even more accessible, the 39-year-old is joined by dancehall fave Sean Paul
. He blends in surprisingly well with Cuban artists Genta De Zona
and Descemer Bueno
The original “Bailando” video has been recycled for the English edit, which isn’t a bad thing. Directed by Alejandro Perez, the exotic blockbuster was filmed in the Dominican Republic and features a flock of extremely talented flamenco dancers. We also get to see Enrique flirt with a sexy lady and play a little football. The Spanish version of the clip has been watched 100 million+ times on YouTube. Expect similar numbers for the extravaganza above. More »

Did You Hear?
:: Rihanna‘s Instagram account is still missing. I’m not sure why this is news but Billboard went as far as contacting the social media giant for comment. They admit to briefly suspending the account but insist they reactivated it. The rest remains a mystery. [Billboard]
:: This should be taken with a grain of salt (because the original source is a gossip magazine) but Mariah Carey is rumored to be having marital woes with Nick Cannon. Incidentally, they recently celebrated their wedding anniversary. [Pink Is The New Blog]
:: Kylie Minogue is the queen of The Voice. In addition to mentoring contestants on the UK and Australian versions of the show, the Australian pop diva recently appeared on The Voice Italy and performed mega-hit “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”. [Rickey]
:: Our congratulations go out to Enrique Iglesias. The Latin heartthrob just scored his 25th number one hit on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart with “Bailando”. Luis Miguel and Gloria Estefan place second and third with 16 and 16 chart-toppers respectively. [Billboard]

will release “There Goes My Baby” as the (depending on what territory you are in) fourth or seventh single from new LP Sex + Love
. Produced by DJ Frank E
and Rickard Goransson
, the reggae-infused party jam boasts a verse from Flo Rida
and a catchy sing-a-long chorus.
It will be interesting to see how Enrique’s latest performs. It’s cute and radio-friendly but so were “Heart Attack”, “Turn Up The Night” and “I’m A Freak” and they didn’t do a lot of damage on the Billboard Hot 100. Hopefully the Latin heartthrob has better luck this time around. After all, “There Goes My Baby” has summer anthem written all over it. Take a listen after the jump. More »
‘s Kiss Me Once
campaign is something of a mystery. One minute she’s promoting classy lead single “Into The Blue”
, the next she’s doing squats in stilettos as part of her random “Sexercize”
initiative. It comes as something of a relief then, that the flawless 45-year-old labeled her saucy sex jam a buzz track in a recent Rolling Stone interview
. But the official second single is just as curious.
When asked about working with the ubiquitous Pharrell, Kylie replied: “It was interesting — I had a meltdown on day two in the studio, but that gave way to a fantastic song ["I Was Gonna Cancel"], which will be my second single.” But wait there’s more. Enrique Iglesias duet “Beautiful” is a contender for single number three. “We’re hoping that’ll be a single as well,” she declares. “I hope we have four singles from the record — that’ll be amazing. ‘Kiss Me Once’ is a contender as well.”
