One Direction, Ke$ha, Beyonce, Bruno Mars & More Unite For Global Citizen Tickets Initiative

What do Beyonce, One Direction, Kanye West, Ke$ha, Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Usher, Tim McGraw, Pearl Jam, No Doubt and Gotye have in common? They’re all richer than you! Also, they’re all part of the new Global Citizen Tickets Initiative, a new project designed to incite social activism by offering people free concert tickets.

Billboard reports that the campaign, created by the Global Poverty Project, allows ordinary people (just like you and me!) to take a “variety of social actions… to earn points they can use to win free tickets to concerts,” which is cool if you love music and feel like doing something. All of the associated issues relate to extreme poverty and include “polio, malaria, women’s empowerment, education and more.”  More »

Memorial Day Playlist: 12 Patriotic Songs That Pop

Memorial Day is next Monday (May 28), and while most of us are just stoked to get the day off work, the holiday is actually intended to honor the good men and women who’ve fallen in battle, in service to the United States. To pay tribute to them, and to keep your Memorial Day barbeque poppin’, we’ve compiled a list of 12 patriotic songs  that are so the opposite of those downer tracks that usually come to mind when someone says “patriotic songs.” Nope, there are no amber waves of grain and definitely no “Born In The USA” on this soundtrack, just a dozen uptempo tunes about heroes and the good ol’ US of A. Frances Bean Cobain And Dave Grohl Respond To Courtney Love’s Twitter Accusations

Courtney Love has reached new epic heights of crazy, but this time the victims of her insane Twitter talk don’t include the fashion industry. The Hole singer recently accused Foo Fighers frontman (and former Nirvana member) Dave Grohl of hitting on her estranged daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. As this rumor is coming from Courtney’s Love indecipherable Twitter feed, you should already be rolling your eyes. But Dave and Frances have still decided to deny that any such hook-up or attempt-to-hook-up has taken place (other than in Courtney Love’s mind). More »

Justin Bieber Wins Villain Of The Year NME Award Night Before His Birthday

British rock mag NME, which recently offended its former cover girl Lady Gaga by labeling Born This Way the Most Pretentious Album Ever, pulled somewhat of an about-face by singling Mother Monster out for Best Band Blog Or Twitter at last night’s NME Awards. In fact, the publication aimed its negativity elsewhere by “awarding” birthday boy Justin Bieber with both Villain Of The Year and Worst Album Of The Year (for Under The Mistletoe). So who does the magazine actually like? Find out by checking the full list of winners below.

The 2012 BRIT Awards: Full Winners List

Though the big winner of the 2012 BRIT Awards was clearly Adele’s middle finger, the 21 singer and Ed Sheeran walked away with the most awards, with two each. Coldplay took home Best British Group, Bruno Mars scored International Male Solo Artist, and Lana Del Rey nabbed International Breakthrough Act. While accepting her award for International Female Solo Artist, Rihanna thanked all her fans “who continue to support me no matter what… at times when I feel misunderstood, my fans always remind me that it’s okay to be myself.” (Is it just us, or is she slyly referencing the “Birthday Cake” controversy?) Head below for the full winners list. More »

Grammy Awards 2012: Watch The Performances

The 54th Grammy Awards, a night overshadowed by the death of Whitney Houston, kicked off with a performance by Bruce Springsteen. Right after, LL Cool J — the annual event’s first host in eight years — walked on stage and reminded us of just what a powerful, iconic force Houston was by introducing a clip of her performing “I Will Always Love You” back in 1994. Of course, the show must go on — and indeed it did. Head below to watch the night’s performances, from artists such as Adele, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry and Chris Brown.
